7A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

7A – Testing the Hypothesis, Part 1

Opportunity: Knowing about certain places in UF on where to park.

Who: People who plan to park on UF campus
This need can be applied t not just campuses but to large places where parking is a hassle. Parking is not easy and should be made easy.

What: These people have trouble finding a location to park their vehicle
Parking is not taken into consideration when going somewhere. It takes up time and if there is a way to help with parking, then it will relieve a lot of stress.

Why: They don't want a ticket, nor waist their time finding parking
I think that parking is a large issue and adding parking is one solution. But showing a person where to park is a big help as well. This can change the game of parking and help out many people.

Interviews

I interviewed five people. I interviewed a Aramark worker, a campus subway worker, a campus housing employee, my roommate, and a campus librarian. I asked them how hard it is to find parking on campus. They each had 1 of these two answers. They either didn't drive or they drove early to work and muscled to find parking. How they didn't drive they walked to their work or they used public transportation. The ones that told me they took public transportation they explained that they like it because they don't spend money on a vehicle but they do take a lot longer. The car people didn't like driving but they live so far and have to drive. They can't find parking sometimes near their station and end up having to walk a long distance. They interviews wet well. This gave me an idea on what to add to this parking app. People had trouble finding parking in their area where they work. by showing the availability in advance it would help. This saves them time and they can work more. A map and GPS are essential for this to show people around, some people aren't familiar with places and these will help. In summary, this idea I have is very useful for all ages. This also helps with where people park. This can help with how they park as well. It saves them time and it very beneficial. I need to find out more specifications to add to this type of parking app.

  1. Hi Tommy, I loved reading your blog post. I can't believe I have never thought of an idea like yours. The idea of having an app that detects parking availability is genius. I would use this product because it is very frustrating wasting time to find parking and circling around the town for a place to park my car.
